I literally grew up in the doll and toy world as a Junior collector. From the age of five, I visited antique and doll shows with my mom and her best friend Angie (founding members of The Jewel City and Verdugo Hills Doll Clubs) as we searched antique and thrift shops for antique dolls, and toys. As they learned the markings on the backs of the bisque dolls heads, I absorbed that information too, and by the ripe age of 13, I became a consummate collector myself, was buying and selling at doll shows, and enjoying the incredible history associated with them.
As a collector of "wood," I enjoy collecting Joel Ellis jointed dolls, Schoenhut's Circus and his African Safari, but my real passion is collecting antique wooden dollhouses and the miniature furniture and accessories that go into them. I also build mini mansions, room boxes, and am proud to say that some of my miniature masterpieces are in museums and private collections to this day. At the moment I'm building a 3/4" scale replica of Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland, which will house my collection of Ideal's Petite Princess and Princess Patti furniture of the 1960's. This elaborate miniature furniture is fit for the Princess who will live in this castle when it's complete. I am also a published author with over 50 book titles under my belt, along with a quarterly magazine that reaches subscribers around the world. As a UFDC Regional Director I love helping others with my knowledge of antique dolls & toys by creating educational movies which I've shown at many UFDC Annual Conventions, and I offer for sale with the profits donated to various worthwhile charities.
